Are they positive? Negative? Helping or hurting you? When we can acknowledge that a lot of what we experience has to do with our thoughts, we can choose to be a little more vigilant and careful about what we allow to come into our minds.

Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about how to prepare my mind for the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. That thought might seem like an overwhelming task for any of us. But the scriptures and the words of prophets assure us that this preparation doesn’t begin with dramatic gestures or grand events—it begins in the quiet places of our hearts and minds.

The Mind is a Sacred Battlefield.

The battle between good and evil isn’t just playing out in world events or cultural movements. It’s unfolding within each of us, every day. The adversary knows that if he can gain influence over our thoughts, he can distort our feelings, weaken our faith, and distract us from our divine potential. Elder Neal A. Maxwell once said, “The greatest battles of life are fought out daily in the silent chambers of the soul.”

Satan seeks to sow doubt, fear, pride, and confusion. He whispers lies that we are not enough, that repentance won’t work, or that we can’t change. But the Savior speaks peace. He offers clarity, truth, and hope. Through the Spirit, He whispers, “Be still, and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10).

Prepare Mentally & Spiritually:

Peter exhorted the Saints to “gird up the loins of your mind” (1 Peter 1:13). In other words, we are to prepare mentally and spiritually for the challenges and blessings ahead. Just as we prepare physically for a journey, our minds must be disciplined, protected, and filled with light if we are to stand ready when He comes again.

Here are a few ways we can prepare our minds for Christ’s return:

1. Fill Your Mind with Truth

The Holy Ghost teaches us truth. As we study the scriptures and the words of living prophets, our minds are enlightened. We come to recognize falsehood more easily, and our desire to follow Jesus Christ grows stronger.

“Feast upon the words of Christ; for behold, the words of Christ will tell you all things what ye should do” (2 Nephi 32:3).

2. Practice Daily Mental Discipleship

Our thoughts shape our destiny. When we choose to think kindly, to turn away from temptation, and to focus on gratitude, we invite the Spirit. Mental discipleship means being intentional about what we allow into our minds through media, conversation, and personal reflection. Music is also a huge way to influence the mind. Listen to music that draws you to Christ. To loving and being kind. All of the things that we watch and listen to DO influence our thoughts and actions.

3. Embrace the Power of Repentance

When our thoughts wander or when we fall short, repentance realigns us with heaven. It clears the mental fog and replaces shame with peace. President Russell M. Nelson has called repentance a “joyful” gift—one that helps us stay mentally and spiritually prepared for the Lord’s return.

4. Visualize His Coming

Ponder what it will be like to see the Savior again. Let that sacred hope influence your daily thoughts. The more we long for His return, the more we will align our minds with His ways. The Second Coming is not something to fear—it’s a reason to rejoice and prepare.

Victory Begins—and Ends—with Christ

While the battle between good and evil begins in the mind, the victory belongs to Christ. As we yield our thoughts to Him, He transforms not only our minds but our entire lives. He doesn’t just want us to believe in Him—He wants us to become like Him. That’s what we strive for, to be better, to be kinder, loving, forgiving and more like the example of the Christ that we know. ❤️

In the end, it is not fear or force that wins the war in our minds—it is love. Love for the Savior, love for truth, love for our eternal potential as sons and daughters of God and love for ourselves and others.

So, let’s make it our goal to protect our minds daily and to invite all that is good to reside within us. God wants to help us in this process of strengthening our mind. We can pray and ask for inspiration on ways to help our mind. We can meditate and set time aside to calm our minds and to find peace in Christ from one moment to the next.

As we prepare for His return, let’s make it our goal to start with our thoughts. Let us guard them, refine them, and lift them to higher, holier places. Because when Christ comes again, He won’t just look at the world—He will look into our hearts and minds, and as we strive to do this, He will find that we a place prepared for Him. 💛

I hope that you may feel a stronger desire to protect your mind from the enemy and fill it instead with the light of God. This is our goal for this week. Notice how much better your mind feels as you strive to do this.

I hope that you can make it to class tonight to release stress and strengthen yourself physically mentally and spiritually. Our meditation will be focused on strengthening our mind so please invite whoever you think would benefit from tonight‘s class. Love you all and hope to see you there! 🙂

Love,

Lili 🌸

In a world filled with noise, distractions, and shifting values, it’s easy to forget about the importance that our mind plays in our daily life.
