I thought this documentary would be interesting, but instead it turned dark very quickly. I instantly felt my soul tell me that this wasn’t good for my mind and spirit. So, I turned it off and I quickly closed my eyes and said a little prayer asking God to help me bring good things to my mind. I’m thankful that I was able to listen to that little voice and that I was able to take action in that moment. After praying, I instantly heard this scripture pop into my mind.

“The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.”Matthew 6:22

I realized at that moment that what I allow to enter into my eyes absolutely has an influence in what I feel In my spirit. What I watch and listen to does matter and it does affect the amount of light or darkness that is within each one of us.

So, how important is it that we learn to listen to that little voice? That voice of the spirt which tells us what is good and what is not? And how important is it that each one of us learns to protect our eyes, ears and mind from the things of the world?

We live in a world filled with endless distractions, voices, opinions, influences etc, but the Savior’s words in Matthew 6:22 feel incredibly relevant to us today. Jesus teaches us that what we choose to focus on affects every part of our lives. The “eye” that Jesus is speaking about is more than our physical sight, it represents our attention, our desires, our thoughts, and what we allow to enter into our hearts. 💛

When our eyes are “single” to God, focused on truth, goodness, and Christ, our lives become filled with His light. His peace is able to replace our confusions, fears and challenges. When our eyes are “single” that means that we choose to focus on hope and allowing that hope to overcome our discouragements, we also focus on allowing out trust or faith in Him to become stronger than our fears. His light can replace any darkness that we may be experiencing.

Every day, we are making choices about what we allow into our minds and hearts. The books we read, the media we consume, the conversations we participate in, and even the thoughts we entertain, all shape who we are becoming. While the world often encourages us to fill our minds with noise, comparison, negativity, and endless distractions, Jesus Christ invites all of us to fill our hearts and minds with light.

If you have a chance to read Mathew 6: You may also notice that Jesus is speaking about the love of money. He invited us to build treasures in Heaven where moth and rust does not corrupt and where thieves won’t steal…He wants our focus to NOT be upon the love of money, or the material things of this world. He teaches us that where our heart is ❤️.. That is where our treasure will be also.

So, think for a moment about where your heart is? Are you centering your heart on material things? On money? On the things if this world? Or is your heart “single”, focused or centered on the things of God. On things that are eternal, that won’t be rusted or stolen…Think about where your true treasure lies. 💖

Theres another scripture that helps us to know what should focus on & it says;

“Whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report… think on these things.” (Philippians 4:8)

How amazing that Paul teaches us this, he doesn’t just tell us to just avoid darkness. Instead he’s invites us to ACTIVELY SEEK LIGHT! 💛 There is a difference. Our spiritual growth doesn’t come from avoiding harmful influences; it comes from intentionally looking for things that draw us closer to our Savior. The things that invite the light into our lives. ❤️🥰

When we spend time daily in God’s words, our minds become clearer. When we offer sincere prayers, our hearts become softer. When we choose gratitude instead of complaining, when we choose kindness over criticism, and faith over fear, we allow the Spirit of God to dwell within us. We’re better able to recognize the difference between the good and the bad and we’re better able to shield ourselves and protect ourselves with the true light of Christ that overpowers darkness.

That light that we bring does matter and it eventually tells us where our hearts and treasures truly lie.

One of the greatest spiritual disciplines we can gain is learning to guard and protect our hearts. ❤️

Proverbs 4:23 teaches:

“Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.”

Here are a few questions we can ask ourselves:

Does this create peace or anxiety?

Does this inspire faith or feed fear?

Does this bring me closer to Christ or farther away from Him?

Does this help me see others as God sees them?

Does this fill me with light?

We can recognize not every influence is obviously harmful, but not every influence is helpful either. As we choose to follow Christ, we are invited to be intentional about what we focus on and what we give our attention to. 💛

The more we fill our lives with God’s light, the easier it becomes to recognize darkness when it appears.🛡️ We can shield and protect ourselves by listening to that little voice and intentionally begin looking for the good and the light of God around us.

This week, our goal is to set aside five minutes each day to do a “Light Check.”

Find a quiet place and take several slow breaths.

Offer a prayer asking Heavenly Father to help you recognize His presence.

Read Matthew 6:22 slowly a few times.

Then close your eyes for a minute and think about these questions:

What has been occupying most of my thoughts lately?

What has brought light into my life this week?

What is one thing I may need to let go of that is distracting me from Christ?

Write down one blessing you have seen from God today.

End with gratitude, thanking the Lord for His guidance and light.

As we intentionally focus on Christ, we begin to notice His hand more clearly in our daily lives. We discover that His light has been present all along.

Jesus said:

“I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” (John 8:12)

The Savior never promised a life without challenges, we will all have difficulties to overcome…but our Savior did promise that we would have His light. 🥹 We’re the ones who have to invite that light into our eyes, our ears, our mind and heart ❤️ 💪🏼 Each day we have the opportunity to bless our minds with uplifting messages our eyes to be filled with light and our hearts to be centered of the things that are above this world. 🌎 ⬆️

Christ invited us to rise above. To set our hearts and minds on eternal treasures rather than on money, lust or things that are unhealthy for our hearts, mind and soul. His truth still guides. His words are true. His love still heals. His grace still strengthens. & there’s nothing more beautiful than being able to experience God for yourself in your own life and in your own way.

So, let’s fix your eyes on Him, let’s allow our hearts to be protected and become steadier, our minds to be filled with light so that we may see clearer, and our lives to become brighter so that we can reflect the light of Christ for others to see.

Our physical goal for the week is

To spend at least 15 minutes each day outdoors without digital distractions. Go for a walk and notice God’s creations, breathe deeply, and allow your mind to rest from the constant noise of the world and instead feel your connection to God becoming stronger.

Our Spiritual Goal is to:

Begin and end each day by reading one scripture about light, hope, or faith. Pray for the ability to recognize what invites the Spirit into your life and what may be taking your focus away from Christ. Ask Heavenly Father to help you invite light into every hour of your day. 💛

As we choose to seek Him this week, I hope and pray that our eyes will be filled with His light, that our hearts will be covered by His peace, and that our lives may be filled with the joy that comes from walking closely with the Savior and having the light flowing constantly within us. 🥰💛🙏🏼

Hope that you can make it to class tonight at 7pm to strengthen ourselves physically, mentally and spiritually. 🥰 Class will be canceled next week. So, hopefully you can join us tonight and invite others to benefit as well. ❤️🙏🏼

Love you all and hope to see you there.

💖

Lili 🌺

We’ve all experienced moments when we feel uncomfortable by something we’re watching, or the things that we listen to. 🤦🏻‍♀️ I had an experience recently when I decided to watch a documentary.
