With everything happening in our world and the many challenges we each face, itâs easy to let the chaos increase and bring greater emotional stress, fear, and anxiety. Our peace is constantly being attacked. Research even shows that our addictionsâand the ways we try to ânumbâ our emotionsâare steadily increasing.
Have you noticed how much harder itâs becoming for people to control their thoughts, emotions, and reactions? Sadly, weâre turning into a society thatâs more disconnected, divided, and dependent on outside things for comfort. We numb our emotional pain with distractions and forget how to stop, breathe, and quiet our minds and hearts.
Think about what you tend to reach for when youâre trying to âfeel betterâ: food, your phone, TV, entertainment, shopping, social media, substances, or other habits that seem harmless at first. Over time, these things become our emotional crutches. They begin to control us. We lose our ability to genuinely regulate our inner peace. We forget to listen to ourselvesâand most importantlyâto ask God for help.
When we recognize the ways we rely on outside sources for peace, we can begin to examine those habits and gradually remove them from our lives. Often, we donât even realize how much control those things have over our emotions. The more we reach outward for comfort, the more our inner light begins to dim. We become reactive, impatient, and uneasyâhurting not only ourselves but also those around us.
Remember: the enemy of your soul wants you to become dependent on outside things. He wants you to be enslaved by them. Heâll whisper that itâs too uncomfortable to sit with your feelings or look withinâbut thatâs how he keeps you distracted and distant from God. If he can keep you from processing your emotions, from feeling peace, and from speaking to your Heavenly Father, then he winsâby making you as miserable as he is.
But God, our loving Father in Heaven, invites us to rise above that. He wants us to choose to turn to Him. He wants us to remember that we are His childrenâwith divine access to His power, light, and peace. True and lasting peace doesnât come from the world. It comes from God. He can give us peace in abundance, even in the middle of lifeâs storms. When we trust Him, we can remain calm, faithful, and steadyâno matter what comes.
This week, I want to encourage you to take a deeper look within yourself. This might feel uncomfortable at first. You may be tempted to reach for your phone, turn on the TV, or distract yourselfâbut try instead to simply sit still for a moment and feel your feelings.
When something triggers you, take a breath. Close your eyes. Cover your ears if it helps, and notice whatâs happening inside. See your thoughts and emotions clearly. Then, invite divine light into your heart and soul. Ask God to fill you with His love, His strength, and His peace. Let yourself feel that power flowing from Him into your heart, mind, and soul.
Nothing compares to that sacred feeling of peace that comes directly from God. â¤ď¸
If youâd like, write down any impressions or wisdom that God places in your heart. The more open you are to receiving, the more He will give.
Take time to notice the things you use to ânumbâ emotional discomfort. Ask yourself:
⢠What steals my peace?
⢠What do I do when Iâm angry, stressed, or anxious?
⢠Do those things bring me lasting peaceâor do they leave me feeling empty?
These are important questions. Getting to know ourselves is part of our spiritual growth. We are meant to become our own best friend, cheerleader, and protector of peace. When we recognize whatâs happening inside, we can consciously invite more goodness and easily reject negativity.
So, I invite you to practice breathing, feeling, and connecting with God whenever you notice inner chaos. Give yourself love and compassion. Be proud of your courage to look withinâwithout needing anything external to help you do so. Reach toward the true Giver of Peace and allow Him to calm your heart and restore your soul.
Set a goal this week to be your inner peace keeper. In your quiet moments, connect with the divine source of peace and loveâour Heavenly Father. Ask Him to help you focus on your inner light instead of the worldâs distractions. As you practice, youâll feel stronger, calmer, and more centered every day.
Remember the Saviorâs words in John 14:27:
âPeace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.â â¤ď¸
Whatever is troubling you todayâfear, stress, or sadnessâtake a moment to sit with those feelings. Breathe. Recognize what you feel and where it shows up in your body. Then say,
âI invite the peace of God to come and be with me. To heal me, strengthen me, and remind me of my divine light. I am love. I am peace. I am a child of God.â
Feel His calmness cover you. God will replace your pain with His peace and fill your heart with light and love. There is no greater therapy than inviting His presence into your soul.
Trust HimâHe is the King of Peace, the Giver of all that is good, and the Creator of love and light. He will strengthen, lift, and comfort you every day.
Our spiritual goal this week:
To gain greater inner peaceâto be the keeper and protector of our peace. To rely on God, not the world, for comfort and strength. To say,
âI choose this hour to keep my peace centered on God, who sees me, hears me, loves me, and helps me. I am the protector of my inner peace, and I choose light, love, and peace to surround me today.â đ
Our physical goal: Exercise 2â3 times this week and nourish your body with water and nutrient-rich foods. đŤśđź
I hope to see you in class tonight at 7 p.m. Make this promise to yourselfâto care for your body, mind, and spirit. Youâll feel the difference as we practice becoming the keepers of our peace during our peaceful meditation.
With love,
